What Our Guests Are Saying
The marker on Google Map is misleading. The waterfall and coffee tour is not located near the A23 road. This is where the office of one of the many tour companies that offer this tour is located. The actual tour by the way is excellent. Just be advised that the actual waterfall and coffee farm is several kilometers away from this location and is loacted at P9JR+J5 Namro on google map. (5 stars for the actual tour, subtracted one for the tour company having misleading labeling)
We hiked to Materuni Waterfall, which is located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, standing at 5,895 meters. Every step was worth it to take in the surrounding landscape, immerse ourselves in nature, feel the (very cold) water coming down from Kilimanjaro, and also enjoy the coffee-making process in the area ☕️.Additional Insight: Materuni Waterfall is not only a stunning natural attraction but also offers a unique cultural experience. The area is inhabited by the Chagga people, who have a rich tradition of coffee farming. During your visit, you can learn about their traditional methods of coffee production, from bean to cup, making the hike both a scenic and cultural journey.Note: Don’t forget to wear hiking shoes, especially if you visit during the rainy months, as the ground can be very slippery.
My friend and I had the most wonderful time at Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee Tour, thanks to our amazing guide, Johnson. The hike to the waterfall was beautiful, with lush greenery and vibrant flora. When we arrived, the view was simply breathtaking. The highlight was the coffee plantation. Johnson showed us the entire process, and we loved singing along with the other local friends while roasting and grinding the beans. It was such a joyful and immersive experience, and the coffee was deliciously fresh! If you're looking for a tour filled with natural beauty, cultural charm, and delightful coffee, don't miss this one. And be sure to ask for Johnson – he made our day unforgettable! 😆🙌🏻🙌🏻
We had an amazing day with our guide Amani. First we went on a hike to the Materuni waterfall, Amani was super friendly and answered all of our many questions. The hike was easy but since it was rainy season the trail was really muddy and slippery. Luckily we did not fall on our buds😁After the hike we went for lunch at their farm, great food cooked over the fire in traditional clay pots.At the end of the tour they explained to us all the coffee making process, from harvesting to roasting, grinding and finally cooking the coffee. We got the chance to take part in the making of a really good cup of fresh coffee.Over all a great experience
I would like to say that the experience is incredible. I advise everyone to discover this welcoming community. The food is incredible, and the excursion to the waterfall is also amazing. We witnessed and helped with the making of coffee, which we then got to taste. Buying coffee is inexpensive. In short, an incredible experience from start to finish. Thanks again.
We had an amazing day with our guide Evans and his colleagues. They organized everything last minute for us. First we went on a hike to the Materuni waterfall, Evans was super friendly and answer all of our many questions, the hike was easy but since it was rainy season the trail was really muddy and slippery. After the hike we went for lunch at their farm, great food cooked over the fire in traditional clay pots, the had veggies and meet in separate pots so it was vegetarian and even vegan friendly. To finish of they explained to us all the coffee bean process, from harvest to roasting, and we got the chance to take part in the making of a really good cup of fresh coffee.Over all a great experience
